Spamhaus ZRD works differently from the other Spamhaus lists. Instead of flagging a domain for confirmed spam, phishing, or malware activity, it flags a domain simply because it's new. What ZRD Actually Checks
ZRD (Zero Reputation Domains) lists any domain that Spamhaus has observed for the first time in the last 24 hours, whether that's a brand-new registration or a previously dormant domain suddenly sending mail. It's not a judgment on the domain's behavior; it's a judgment on the domain's age.
Domains are only listed for 24 hours. After that window:
If the domain hasn't shown any spam-like behavior, it's automatically removed from ZRD with no listing carried over
If the domain has been used for spam, phishing, or malware during that window, it typically moves to the Domain Blocklist (DBL) instead, which does have real listing criteria and a proper removal process
Delist a Domain from Spamhaus ZRD
There's no delisting process for this blacklist. If a new domain is blocked in the first 24 hours after registration, this is expected behavior, not an error or a sign of a deliverability problem. This listing expires on its own once the 24-hour window passes.
